About Friends Like Family

 Friends Like Family is a Consumer/Peer Run institution that specializes in the Art of Support 

“Consumer/Peer Run” institutions are defined as a collective of individuals who have been through the traditional mental health system and they have found a way to become a person in recovery where they live functional and community integrated lives despite their previously diagnosed illness and now they use their personal lived experience to help those who are currently going through the same challenges they know themselves all too well.

“The Art of Support” is a science/evidence based practice which follows the alignment of multiple practical approaches, meaning it is based on what we have learned that it works; like person centered support, trauma informed support, Etc. to take on any role of support, for people struggling with mental illness, it requires to be an artist in these practices.
