is a journey that those of us who have been through a major life disruption or illness, took on and came out on the other side better and stronger.
of recovery is to get to a place where we are able to live an independent, fulfilling, and functional life; despite our history and/or current struggle with mental illness.
we do it through the evidence based practice of the holistic approach using the model of the dimensions of wellness.
In the simplest of terms of how we apply the holistic approach through the dimensions of wellness is as follows:
We take the entirety of the human experience of what we call life and we divide it into areas of function where we can then identify and measure spectrums of wellness.
Our participants get to choose the dimensions they identify as relevant to their experience but must include mind, body, spirit, and relational well-being. Some examples of dimensions one can focus on are; but not limited to:
Once the dimensions of wellness are identified, we measure where our participants are currently and where we want to get to. Then we start to identify the paths that are possible for our participants to take to achieve those goals.
As mentioned earlier, recovery is a journey, meaning that this is a lifetime practice and there's no time-line to be considered; it could take anywhere from a couple months all the way to a couple of years. That's why we divide the Wellness, Recovery, Action Plan (WRAP) into short and long term goals for it to be measurable, obtainable, and to be revised as life goes on.
that every person's situation varies with circumstances and experience and it is almost never as straightforward as just developing a WRAP and that's it, that's why we offer a variety of services and settings so we can offer opportunities of recovery to all
